MUSEUM UPDATE - MAY 1, 2012

Please welcome new members Harry Johnson Jr., Ken Schena (a former NESMRA supermodified driver), Russ and Darlene Nutting (Russ is a NEAR Hall of Fame member), Ric Mariscal (who is already a Board member), Bucky Swiniarski, Lloyd Hutchins Jr (also a Board member), Paul Zampieri, Ron Bouchard (a NEAR Hall of Fame member and a RHPG Board member who joined at the Platinum level), Dave Coutermarsh (a member of the Maine Hall of Fame), and Marvin Galarneau all of whom joined in April.

We've been busy spreading the word. Our Facebook page gets a new entry each week and we're updating the news section of the NEMSmuseum.com website nearly as often. New literature has been printed and is being distributed.

On April 7, Mark Hann, Pete vonSneidern, Ken Smith and Dick Berggren shared the story of the Museum with the folks who came to the annual New Hampshire Motor Speedway Open House. vonSneidern towed the vintage cut-down built by Dick Volante to that function.

Mark Hann and Lew Boyd set up a table at Stafford's Spring Sizzler on a cold day in late April and distributed the project's newest literature. Skip Matczak's vintage sprint car was on display at that event.

Jim Martel continues to make regular progress toward the restoration of the #8 CAE-frame supermodified driven by Billy Murphy and others. That car will be offered to the museum. You can follow the restoration on HAMB.com by typing in "Wild Bill Murphy."

Coming up, Mark Hann will be at a car show on Railroad St., in Great Barrington, MA on Thursday night, May 3 from 5-9 with the Matczak Crown 7 car. And he'll be at the Valenti Auto Mall of Mystic Ct on Saturday, 5/5 from 10-3. Go to the dealerships' 72 Jerry Browne Rd location. You'll see cars from the Valenti Modified Racing Series along with race cars, customs and that Matczak Crown 7.
