Hall of Fame

On Sunday, May 6, Board Member Ricky Craven was inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame. Noteworthy is that this very old Hall has inducted just three race car drivers, Dick McCabe, Ralph Cusack and now Ricky Craven. In his remarks to the huge audience, Ricky talked about his passion for racing and described his rise from an obscure small Maine town to winning in NASCAR’s top division. He spoke of his affinity to Maine where he and his family own a camp on Moosehead Lake and of his close brushes with disaster at Talladega and in Texas. The audience heard how important his family is to Ricky in a speech that resulted in a standing ovation.

A winner in all three of NASCAR’s top series, Ricky is an ESPN race announcer and resides in Concord, NC.
