Annual Meeting Recap

The annual Open Meeting of the Racing History Preservation Group was held on Saturday, April 19, at the Stafford Speedway function hall. All Board of Directors and paid members were invited to attend and vote.

Members saw preliminary drawings done by architect Dan Skully of the new museum building which will be approximately 10,000 square feet. It will be a one story building. The design will permit expansion.

The Executive and Building Committees were charged with closing a deal on the land which is being offered to us on which to build the museum.

Lew Boyd shared with the group progress being made on the book, “The History of Auto Racing in New England.”

Paul Giblin announced the second annual Gypsy Tour Ride, a motorcycle event on June 15 which will benefit the museum. Giblin also shared with the group his plans for the Subaru Mt Washington Hillclimb, a high speed race against the clock on the Mt. Washington auto road. Board members Ray Boissoneau and Joe Freeman are signed up to compete in the Hillclimb.

Treasurer Ken Smith pronounced the group’s finances to be sound and adequate to begin construction.

The day in which ground is broken for the Museum is getting much closer.
