New To The Museum

On April 27, Bill Binnie's stunning LeMans class winner was rolled onto the floor by (left) Will Petropoulos and Marc Walpot. The car is a 2005 Lola that Binnie drove in world class events in the United States and Europe.

Another NASCAR Winner

On April 21, Courtney Bergeron-Spacht, her father Bob Bergeron and George Summers delivered the car Ron Bouchard won Talladega with in 1981.

The North East Motor Sports Museum Remembers Racing Great Pete Hamilton

New England racer Pete Hamilton, who passed away on March 22, 2017, began racing in the early ‘60s at the Norwood Arena. Due to his skill behind the wheel and his winning personality he was hired to drive fast cars. He was a charismatic personality, he was a man people wanted to be near and support.

CASINO BENEFITS THE MUSEUM
On April 8, from 1pm to 5pm at Midway Buick/GMC, 155 Rt 108 Somersworth, NH 03878 there will be "Casino Museum," a rocking fine time of an afternoon benefitting the North East Motor Sports Museum.

BIG PICTURES

On March 7, 2017, a crew from Image4 came to the museum and installed four huge murals on the walls. Three of them are ten-feet long including the one behind Skip Matczak's 1948 Hilligas sprint car.

NMHS September Cup Date
New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s September Sprint Cup weekends have been moved to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway effective 2018. Here’s what that means for the North East Motor Sports Museum. The New Hampshire track is secure and will be in business with its July weekend for decades to come.

Ken Smith

With sadness, we report the passing of Kendall (Ken) Smith. Ken was one of the very first members of the Racing History Preservation Group's Board of Directors where he served as Treasurer on the Executive Committee. The Group has built the North East Motor Sports Museum at New Hampshire Motor Speedway thanks in part to Ken. He was the only treasurer the Museum ever had.

First Trophy

On Thursday, December 16, 2016, North East Motor Sports Museum curator Ray Boissoneau moved the first trophy into the museum's custom-built 25-foot long trophy case. It was won by Bentley Warren in 1969 in his first of six Oswego Speedway Classic championships.

Newest is Very Old

The newest car on the floor of the North East Motor Sports Museum is very old. Built in England in 1932, this J2 MG is owned by Peter and Rachael Ross of Bolton, MA. It was originally raced the year it was built as a factory car driven by Archie Langley and Jack Bastock. It raced at some of Europe's most storied tracks. In 1934 the car was imported to the US by Sam Collier where it was raced in ARCA (the precursor to t

The First Car

On December 1, 2016, the first car to arrive on the floor of the North East Motor Sports Museum was the #1 modified which was driven by Geoff Bodine to dozens of wins in 1978. The car has been magically restored by Ronnie St. Germain and Mark Alden for its owner Carl Oberg (who in our photo is closest to the car and wearing a blue shirt).

First Car Scheduled To Arrive December 1
The first car to arrive at the museum has a pavement history. Its driver played a major role in building the car and dominated New England the first year he raced it. It's due to arrive at the museum on Thursday, December 1 at 1pm. However, it's coming on an open trailer and rain is in the forecast.

Finishing The Floor

In mid-November, ICS Coatings completed a four-day project of preparing, then epoxy-coating the floor at the North East Motor Sports Museum. Dillon Coburn, the project's on-site foreman, is shown applying coating to a section of the museum that will become a drag racing diorama.
